Okay, now if any of you ever paid attention in history class, this may remind you of another, perhaps more famous quote: "United we stand; Divided we fall" (brownie points to the first person to remember who said that!)
This is a crucial point. The sorting hat made up a whole song about this! BECAUSE. IT. IS. SO. IMPORTANT!!!!
not just for Wizards.
But for the rest of us, who spent our 11th birthdays wishing our letter would arrive, only to discover we are, in fact, muggles and squibs.
It's important because we are all people. The woman standing on the corner of State and Main, yeah, she's a person. And she has a story. The guy who just spray-painted my fence? He's a person. Me? Well, I'm a martian, but it's pretty much the same thing.
The world is full of people and forces that will stop at nothing to break us apart. There is strength in numbers. You have to stand with the people who are on your side. Stand up for your gender. Your orientation. Your religion/atheism. Your school. Your state. Your country. Your planet. Far too many people let their doubts and pessimistic views stop them from believing in themselves and the causes they do, deep down, believe in.
Don't be another couch-potato-complainer. Be a doer. Be a doer that does with other doers. Be the glue that holds things together, and the thing being held together by another's glue.
Give and take.
Pick up and put down.
Break and mend.
Steal and donate.
Murder and impregnate.
Okay, maybe those last few were a little overboard...or a lot.........
But you get the point.
Stand true to yourself and what you believe in. Be the beacon that calls others back home to the causes they rooted for when they still believed. Make them believe again.
Make their sleigh-bell ring for all eternity.
